Do you think Aberdeen City Council will open bus lanes to motorcycles in the name of safety?

Yes, Aberdeen City Council are a forward thinking collection of people that know the right thing to do.

No, the councillors are a clique of small minded people that will only make changes to suit their personal goal.

Bus lanes and motorcycle safety…

Post by Dave »

Background:
A report by the London Assembly Transport Committee recommends " BUS lanes should be consistently open to motorcyclists across the capital to improve safety"

I would assume that motorcycles using bus lanes throughout all of the UK would improve safety.

Does anyone think Aberdeen Council will do the decent thing in the name of safety, and allow motorcycles to use bus lanes ?

Bearing in mind this is the council that support charging people to drop off at the airport in the name of safety despite no real history of accidents.... then I'd be surprised if they didn't charge bikers for the use of the bus lane........ All in the name of safety of course :roll

In a previous job I had the rare and most fortutitous chance to meet the lovely staff of the Transport department (or whatever) at some transport related project launch and when I broached them about this very topic and presented them with the TfL Report it was sneered at like a schoolboy being given some tedious book to read and they said something along the lines of: we've considered and its unlikely, and went off to starbucks for a natter.

Whilst theres some affa fine staff at the cooncil whom diligently considering citizens enquiries (or at least put on the show), the transport department does not contain such fine staff :2up

This poll is not showing the Aberdeen City Council in a very good light :???

I fear that many of the councillors do not care about the wellbeing of the public, but are too busy chasing political agendas, and bigger pockets going by some of the ridiculous planning developments that get approved for some businesses, while Joe Public has to jump thru stupid loops at great cost to get a wee extension to there home.

In my view at local level, councillors should be the guardians for the public good, therefore should not be involved with politics.
