Where to watch MOTOGP in Aberdeen?

Post by Gesera »

Hello,

I'm kind of new in town and I was wondering if there is a sports bar where I can watch motogp..I saw the first race at home but it seemed a bit lonely :P

Good thing to find that at least there is this space on the forum to comment after the race.

Thanks for any reply

Hello and welcome Irene. :2up

I am un-sure about bars showing Moto-gp in Aberdeen. Pretty sure if you went to your local and asked them to put it on, they would oblige.

Perhaps if you get yourself on a ride-out and get to know a few peeps from here, you could go to their place to watch the race so your not shouting at the telly on your own.

Hello Arron,

Thanks for the reply, I would love to go to a ride out but the truth is that I do not have the motorbike. I used to go with my father on ride outs in Spain and once I moved here...he of course kept the bike :(

Still I wanted to meet people in Aberdeen with similar interest and that is why I joint the forum..took me a while to start posting though :P I thought that a sports bar could be a good start.

Thanks again for the reply, I'll give a try asking to my local but if there is soccer or rugby I'm in no luck! :D

I encounter the same hassles when I'm offshore and there is a clash of bike racing and the footy. The footy seems to win all the time unfortunately.

Hope you get sorted out. :2up

Same thing here Arron, I am on the Alba and was desperate to watch the BSB, but no, soccer on all day. Never mind off today, BSB highlights usually on ITV4 on Weds evening.

A funny thing happened when I was on the BP Andrew a number of years ago. The IOM TT was on and a fair percentage of smokers were bikers. The footy mob were coming in and moaning that some game was on (that no-one supported, but its footy and should be on), so one of the regulars stood his ground and said "we have to watch your soccer p15h all the time, the TT is on for most of this trip so get used to it. By the way, theres a telly in your room if you really want to see it". :log

Excellent. :2up

You should be able to watch on your telly or online? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 656939.stm
BSB is on Wednesday 21.00 @ http://www.itv.com/itv4/

Moto GP is a minority sport in the UK, not like spain where you can see it live in many bars. My old local provided free tapas for the fans :freebird

depends on how the rigs / boats route their net as alot isnt through the uk due to it being satellite based and of course the bbc site stops non uk people seeing the live stuff etc, or it certainly used to

Irene asked where to watch MotoGP in an Aberdeen sports bar. There are not too many of those offshore. :eek

FYI: The BBC block on overseas internet access can be circumvented :cheers

Thanks for the replies, as missile points out I was just looking for a pub to not to watch it at home as it is not the same (last time I had to do a video conference with my father, his camera pointed at the screen, cause it was getting frustrating not to be able to comment with someone :P ). Shame that BBC Scotland seems to miss moto 2 and moto 3 categories, so far they seem the most interesting to me

The other day I saw a sports bar in market street so I'll try and ask for the next race and let you know if I was successful and if so maybe I can bring the "tapas" that missile seems to miss if you guys want to join me. ;)

Sounds like a plan and if that doesn't work out bring the tapas and beer and you can watch on my tele. :deal

Thanks for the tip, I would certainly ask as I live right next door so it would be quite convenient! :2up

I sent an email to the owner, he replied that he is a biker but does not follow any sport and that the pub doesn't have a tv soooo I guess i'll keep looking :)
