Valencia Predictions

Post by Gazza »

Rossi has lost his appeal with CAS to suspend their decision until after the race. He will start from the back.

http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/224893 ... encia.html

Here's my prediction for the weekend.

Qualifying
Valentino will give the Ducatis a tow during qualification in order to put some pressure on Jorge at the start. Particularly Iannone who's likely to be up the front and dicing with the leaders. He only needs to beat Pedrosa to win 4th.

Note that there were two Ducatis in the top 5 last year. Interestingly, Iannone led the first 10 laps, Rossi qualified on pole and Lorenzo had a highest position of 4th throughout. It also rained, at which point Jorge rapidly dropped back before coming in first to change for wet set-up bike. He never achieved better than 20th and retired like a wimp in front of his home fans, with 6 laps to go. Iannone, who mistakenly changed bikes at exactly the same time as Lorenzo, at least went on the finish the race.

The Race
Valentino should be in the top 8 within say 4 or 5 laps. If Jorge is leading the pack with a decent lead or something insurmountable by Valentino, some mad Italian will run onto the track and cause a red flag. The restart will put Vale back in catching distance. It's 30 laps at Valencia, so no longer insurmountable.

Of course I wouldn't dream of putting this on a wider public forum such as Facebook, where it could go viral and put silly ideas into the heads of Italian fans. :)

Tech 3 are obviously hoping to be involved as there are some pretty obvious upgrades from the footage I've seen so far.

Weather due to be cloudy, and not that warm ......possible rain then :)

Yes, fan intervention is very possible, had it been anyone other than Rossi then this could probably be ruled out.

I think he will be through the pack within 3 laps IMO.

We shall see how much focus Lorenzo has as he will possibly be more preoccupied looking backwards for Rossi or getting bounced by the other top riders.

Rossi will also have to pass Marquez at some point, and we know who he wants to win ......

This ones gonna be like an episode of eastenders on two wheels (no injuries hopefully!)

1. Marquez.
2. Lorenzo.
3. Pedrosa.
6. Rossi.

Imagine Rossi will be ruthless overtaking the slower bikes,
Fun will start when he catches up on the Pramac Ducatis and Suzukis.

Well there you go. Marc never made a single attempt on Jorge. None of his usual aggressive riding until Dani put the frighteners on his girlfriend. Then out came the guns and he nearly rode his team mate off the track.

What a prick. I told you he get booed on the podium. In his own country too. No doubt he'll be proud about that :log

Good effort from Vale unlike the effort made by Marquez! Anybody else think the number 93 Honda could have gone a bit faster? I think you've pretty well nailed it Gazza.

Great ride from Lorenzo, flawless ..... but when you know you've got 2 countrymen protecting your ar$e behind you then you can concentrate on the road ahead.

Only wish there had been something to draw the pack back together with a safety car like oil on the track etc.

If Rossi hadn't made a mistake in that earlier wet race where he stayed out far to long he would still have had enough points to take the title.

I hope that over the of season he can forget about all the conspiracy theories and just get on with the 2016 championship.

For me the biggest issue is the bringing the sport down with all the crying/whinging.

Racing is racing, get on with it and don’t farce over policing...which will happen if the whinging by riders continues.
Then we will all lose out.

All riders block, farce others wide, have a bit of rubbing on track, follow team orders (sometimes but not always), all are puppets to the sponsors...no sponsors no riding, regardless how good you are on two wheels.

Some you win, some you lose, especially if you are stupid enough to get caught breaking the rules when you know there are dozens of ground and ariel HD cameras and thousands of fan camera/phone cameras around the track, and off the track catching your every word.
Just have the grace to live with it and move on.

The more experienced the rider, the more they should know the game, and the more dignified they should be.

It is very hard to become a treasured household name, but it is so easy to be a has-been and lose credibility / dignity.

I fear if the negative talking continue, then sponsors will walk away, and those policing the racing/rules will interfere too much.

I am hoping the "what if's" in 2015 will cease and the upcoming programmes/articles are filled with positive talk of the good racing of 2015 and the focus is for racing in 2016.

Good points Dave but I doubt the sponsors will walk away, no such thing as bad publicity you know! Imagine how people worldwide saw that race on Sunday.

A decent tribute video. Not sure about the title though, I don't think he's going to fade away just yet...

I've never been a fan of Rossi, but I was actually beginning to warm to him this season and had no real preference over who won the title - as long as it was contested fairly.

In my opinion, Rossi's antics about Marquez helping Lorenzo are just utter fantasy. The fact is only Marquez knows.

But after Rossi's road-Anal Intrusion manouvre which saw Marquez go down he wasn't a deserving champion. Same reason I never liked Schumacher in F1 - who had a tendency to accidentally deliberately play bumper cars with his championship opponents near the end of a season, sometimes it worked (Hill) sometimes it didn't (Villeneuve). Same pattern: check mirrors/shoulder, crash into opponent. Rossi didn't deserve to win after that, and showed himself to be a sore loser afterwards. Boo hoo.
