SUPERMOTO AT BOYNDIE

Post by W111PAC »

This is already in the trackday bit, but hey it's all free

Bon Accord Moto-x Club Are holding their first trackday this Sept 2nd.
It's at Boyndie Drome, Banff (about 30 miles from Aberdeen)
All levels of road & track riders are welcome, with the groups split into the usual 3, novice intermediate & advanced.

It's a great venue with catering faclities on site & overnight camping on the Sat & Sun night if needed.

more about the track can be found here, including some good hi res lap footage
http://www.grampiankartclub.com/

£40 pre booked or £50 on the day, which if you compare it to sunny Knockhill is a bargain

9am till 4pm

If this goes well & we get a decent turnout it could lead to good things
+ IT'S JUST UP THE ROAD!!

so dig out that crf/ktm get some wheels off ebay & get up there

pm me for further details/questions
Cheers
Willie

When heading west take the last road on the right just before the fork on the A98. Its up beside the wind turbines and animal feed place. Im pretty sure it signposted anyway.

If heading out from Banff towards Elgin, go approx 4 miles.
Look :eye :eye at the right hand side of the road, there is a BIG white billboard advertising the Boyndie Drome Grampian go kart track.

Canna miss it.

Going to ride up and see how I feel on the day. Is there a fuel station near? Can I dump my top box in your van if I decide to have a go?

I'm not intending on racing at the petrol station! ;)

It'll be like the car park at AMEC then? :I can't believe it's not butter!

There's a garage at Cornhill - which is just a couple of miles from the track.

Got to the track a bit late at 9:30. The bikes were being out through scutinering. First impression was that it looked pretty hard core with dedicated race bikes shod with cut slicks. Pit area was full of vans with tyre warmers etc.

Decided that I would be well out of my depth so decided just to spectate. :oops

Couldn't of asked for a nicer day weather wise. God some good footage of Coullstar i(if you can see past the wobbly hand). Need to work out how to get it uploaded somewhere.

Had a great run back with XLJohn, Mal, & Trouble. :2up

Ah the highs and lows of supermoto. First session, 3rd lap and down I went twisting my knee in the process. Only some bent bars but soon fixed. Went down a group but some of the guys were a bit too slow so back with the big boys in the afternoon and what a difference. Was bloody loving it but by heck it hard work.

Hope all that turned up enjoyed it and thanks for coming. Ive just tucked the bike away and my knee is the size of a ballon. Looking forward to the 60miles drive home. Pics would be ace. Any of No.71 or No.3 to keep my boss happy.

No.3?

Is he not the guy that knocked you off on the 1st session? ;)

I'll check the footage I got and see.
