What's your favourite West Coast day trip?

Yesterday i did a loop around Skye and Lochaber. The route was basically as follows:-

Foggieloan to Inverness on the A96.
Down Loch Ness to Invermoriston on the A82.
Take the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh and over the bridge.
Keep on the A87 till just before Broadford and turn left on to the A851 signposted Armadale.
At Armadale catch the Ferry to Mallaig. (Bike and rider £12 something)
From Mallaig the only road out A830 down to Fort William.
Up the A82 to Spean Bridge.
Turn right on to the A86 Laggan road to Kingussie.
Up the A9 to Aviemore
Back to Foggieloan on the A95

340 miles. Add another 80 miles for you "toonsers".

Thing to see and do en-route if you fancy:-
See Nessie at the Loch Ness Centre at Drumnadrocht
Urquhart Castle
Eilean Donan Castle
Skye Bridge
Clan Donald Centre, Armadale
Calmac Armadale/Mallaig Ferry
Trainspotting at Mallaig Station (Jacobite/Hogwarts Express was sitting at the platform)
Glenfinnan Memorial and the Viaduct
Commando Memorial and Museum at Spean Bridge
Waltsing Waters at Newtonmore (hurry up, it closes for good at the end of August)
Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig
Aviemore for grub at PapaRock
Speyside for the Whisky Trail (well maybe not if you want to get home)

poo, that should have taken a full week if you stopped to soak up all the attractions, not the 9hrs that i was away for.

So. Where do you lot go?

After picking up my new triumph street triple r on Wednesday, thought I should take it on a long ride to get the engine run in. Completed this today.... What a great bunch of roads and scenery! Dry roads the whole way with about a minute of drizzle. Didn't post in the ride out section as I wanted to take it relatively easy and get used to the bike, what a hoot it is! Looking forward to doing this route again sometime.

Ya wooses - wouldn't get my bike dirty for a short run. try Aberdeen, Huntly, Dufftown, Grantown, Inverness, Lairg, Tongue, Durness, Ullapool, Gairloch, Drumnadrochit, Fort Augustus, south side Loch Ness, Carrbridge, Grantown and home via Strathdon. Nice easy ride for all the sports bike riders :)
