Luggage systems and tail racks

Post by Mechanicaldan »

I'm looking for luggage systems and tail racks that may fit my zx-9r. Possibly a tank bag system, but prefer tail unit system. I'm not interested in saddle bags, just tail units as I lane slit often. This is what I've found so far.

Renntech sports rack

Ventura system

Five Stars luggage carrier (ZX-6R, but likely fits as the tails are almost identical)

SW-Motech

I think Givi did have a system, but it's been discontinued.

Anyone have any other luggage companies that I can try?

I use an oxford tankbag and oxford tailpiece and they work a treat on the Tuono. :2up

Oh, and the wife uses Kriega and she swears by it.

+1 for the Kreiga kit, 100% waterproof & still looks brand new after nearly 2 years of abuse. :worthy

I have only used mine a handful of times but if you don't want to fit bars to your bike, its the best out there and very easy to use. :2up

Kreiga all the way for me

The 40l system sits perfectly on sports bikes and you get heaps in em (about 40l ;) )

I have panniers on my Tenere and don't have any issues filtering.

The 9 and the 6 are not interchangeable, I found a cheap rack for a 9 on flea bay and it didnt fit (its now gone)

Can't really deny that.

I've just recently started to look at possible top boxes for my bike. :oops

It's going to look a tad daft regardless what style I go for but it should serve purpose & that's all that matters to me!

Big Kneed Al (master of the emergency stop & "stand up" comedian), this is all your fault!! :log

hey rowan just do it mate , in my opinion all luggage makes any bike look ugly so why not fit a top box the way baza zax an myself have , it takes seconds to take the box an the plate off an re-fit a rear seat or seat cowl , no messin around with bungee cords an no risk of damaging bodywork :freebird

aye an its taking its sweet time gettin here too !!!! its not replacing anything damaged tho dude :eek

alot of you may laugh about top boxes but when it takes seconds to load/unload your bike an your safe in the knowledge that the contents of said top box will remain dry if it rains its a winner in my eyes :freebird

must admit, im very impressed by the ventura luggage. the last trip me and grant had my oxford tailpack started to move around alot and at one point ended up on my seat, and that was with ample bungee cords and non slip rubber under the pack.

i dont use luggage enough to justify buying the ventura stuff tho
