R-6 engine casings

I need to change my engine casings on my R-6 do I have to empty the oil before i take them off??? I have recently just had my oil changed so i dont want to do it again unless i have no choice

what casings are you changing ? if its just the clutch an alternator casings you shoudnt have to drain the oil (well you dont have to on an R1) but dont quote me on that

you can do the clutch casing on an 2000 plated R-6 without draining the oil. (I know I have done it loads in the past.
I am not sure about the other ones though.

Why not just drain the oil into a plastic tub and re-use the oil?

just make sure everthing you use has no contaminates in it just incase, ie water, crud etc
