Stupid tyre question...

Wife's just got on her 125 and it's skittish as f**k, particularly in the wet. The tyres have a lot of tread on them, but they are over three years old - think I should look at replacing them or just look at getting a better tyre?

Pressures are fine - as per book. Only done about 2k miles - don't look worn.

What make are the tyres as the bike might not have been fitted with very good tyres from the offset.

If there is any doubt in the mind of the rider then change them as it will be a distraction otherwise.

Buy the best tyres you can afford. Also check suspension.

Ok - had a look at the tyres and they are the OEM tyres - which turn out to be a cheap Indian tyres which aren't even rubber - they are nylon!!! :nono After a brief bit of forum searching, it appears that they are notoriously terrible in the wet :angryfire

I'm pretty pissed off that Honda could install such shizzle on their bikes, even if it is a 125cc…

Quick call around some places and got new Continentals fitted on the bike this afternoon - can't have my good lady riding about with tyres that bad. Got a decent price from Sillett Tyres on Holland Street - not a place I'd heard of but Ecosse referred me there and they beat other people's prices by £40!

Happy now...
