AW f*(&!!!

Post by CBRXX »

Finally stripped down my 1200 Blackbird engine last night to discover:

It needs a full set of valve stem seals
a couple of the shims are out of spec
the barrels are in pretty good nick
the Weisco pistons are in top nick

the crank and one of the Carrillo con rods are however toast .

The stem seals and shims are no problem

Does anyone know where I can buy Carrillo con rods in singles not as a (£800odd) set of 4?

Failing this does anyone know if its possible to have the crank and big ends reground and oversize shells fitted?

Im not sure if Agra Engineering in Banff can do the crank. If they can, surely the big end would be possible to open out slightly for the bigger shells.

Imagine they do, as they regrind cams.

TTS are the agents for Carrillo con rods in the U.K. but it takes forever to get stuff through them, 8 month for a set of pistons. You would be a lot quicker to buy direct from one of the big tuners in the states.

Off the road !!!! have you taken leave of your senses man ?? :log

just means I have to put up with the puny little 1137cc engine for a while longer till I get the proper phsyco engine fixed and back in :freebird

Got a bloke in the sates hopefully sorting me out with a crank and can get the rod direct from Carrillo for $400 these are not standard spec so will also probably have a fair old lead time, unfortunately I have to take the family on holiday in October so funds will not stretch till after christmas I thinks
