Got in the shower 15 mins ago to get ready to go into town and discovered I was sharing the shower with a wasp :eek Thankfully she must've been on her last legs and was able to squash it with the bottle of shower gel :2up

Don’t you just hate...

Road tax...feeeeeeeeeking hated everything about road tax :angryfire :angryfire

I hate the fact that we need to pay road tax, considering the amount of tax on fuel...the more fuel you use, the more tax you pay...like paying road tax twice :angryfire :angryfire

I wonder the cost of administering the handling of tax discs cost :confused

I hate the fafing about with fitting the road tax disc to a vehicle...pissy Plod and the traffic warden vultures know if your vehicle has tax (and insurance, and MOT) via the number plate...so why do we have to faf about displaying a tax disc :confused :angryfire :angryfire

And the colour of the current disc...it just does not complement the colour of the bike
:biggrin2

I concur... My tax disc was half the price of what my car is valued at... :eek

By having so many different taxes it's easier to hide the fact that about 3/4 of your total income heads back to the government. Putting it all in one tax would be far cheaper, but also far more obvious.

I wouldn't go for the Oxford ones again - mine stopped working on about the 3rd or 4th use. They now work intermittently - I'm not sure if water has got in or if it was just a duff set.

I looked around on the net and it seems to be a common fault with the controller. Just my own experience with them.

If you have the receipt Oxford will replace the controller. It also depends on what revision of controller you have as well as they are on about Mk.10 of the design by now.

I have Oxford "Sport" hot grips on both my bikes and are excellent. On the Monster I didn't bother with the controller and fitted a simple on off switch with the grips wired in parallel to a 5A fuse. Keeps the installation simple and minimalistic.

A fine idea

I had a faulty Oxford controller on one of my previous bikes.

The grips still pulled power even when the controller was "off".

They were installed by the previous owner straight to the battery (with its own fuse), so when the engine of off the battery was being drained.

The previous owner always had the biked parked in a garage and connecter to a battery conditioner, so when he tried to start the bike the battery had full charge.

That's how Oxford recommend you install them in their instructions. I would suggest that if you do follow those instructions that you wire them through the contacts of an automotive relay with the relay powered off the tail light circuit.

Alternatively look at the bike wiring diag to find a suitable switched circuit to splice into ;)

Definately wouldn't wire directly from the battery.

I also have a set of Oxford Sport grips on the Tuono. Very toasty.

That's ok for the relay but I would avoid doing that for powering accessories.

I've got them wired through a relay and when they do work they are great.

The controller still 'Danger' Powers on every time, it just stays in the minimum setting and won't move to the higher settings when I press the buttons.

I'll hav a hunt for the receipt and see if I can get a new controller from them. Did you go straight to Oxford or through the shop?

~On two of my bikes they'll come on then just go off again after a while, on the other bike with the old style dial never had a problem, their push button controllers are 5h1te :angryfire
