Some people may be aware of a group in the borders trying to get a Scottish road race together but if not here's an article about it. http://www.scotsman.com/lifestyle/motor ... -1-2180403 I for one would love to see this happen but .........

IMHO there is not a cats chance of this being approved. I hope to be proven wrong.

There is a strong pressure group working in the IoM trying to ban the TT. :nono

First I've heard of anyone wanting the TT banned , I think the island would die without the revenue generated by it , the majority of businesses struggle to survive as it is , if road racing can go ahead in northern Ireland there is no reason why it couldn't go ahead in Scotland

Every year there is a cry to ban the TT. :wife

There is a strong group of white settlers living in IoM who would like to see an end to the TT.

For your info, just a few of the many links I found >

Plenty of calls for it to be banned in norther ireland aswell. Alot of meetings didnt run last year and few already this year have said they cant viably afford to run a meeting.
Just a rough idea---to run the cookstown 100 which is coming up at the end of April it will be a minimum of £75,000 :??? road closures, police, ambulances, insurance.........

Lets hope you are right. If you have never been to the island, I would suggest you make it soon.

Back on topic, Missile is correct... Not a cats chance. Too many people won't want it. If you can't get the Aberdeen bypass built despite overwhelming support, what chance does a bunch of hairy arsed bikers have?

I like your positive attitude ! I don't see the comparison between a road race and a by-pass , I know holding a road race will cause disruption but I'm sure businesses in the area will benefit from it

Would be nice but as been said I can't see it!! Seems to take ages for something like this to get the paperwork together then when its applied for you get the tree huggers compaling about it which means will take at least another two years before anything else will happen!! Would be good though.

Was their not mention of a race track getting build down there!! No more heard about that!! Prob still trying to get a formal paper work through so we still have to wait in the tree huggers anti anything policy!!

No a posative attitude but true!!

The comparison is simple. Just a few people not wanting it is enough to put the blockers on. Despite your enthusiasm there will be no end of folk who will complain about the noise alone, let alone any disruption to traffic. Like the bypass, they'll not give a shizzle about any benefit to the local community.
