I'm thinking of trading in the Z1000 for a new nekid this spring. Choices are:-

Big Mans Wanger S1000R.
KTM superduke 1290.
Aprilia Tuono.

Any thoughts?

Triumph speed triple or even better the Yamaha FZ-1

I have an older Tuono and it is fantastic, but a handful to ride and by no means an everyday tool.
reports on the new V4 Tuono are good, but general impression is that it lacks the character of the older versions.

Can't comment on the Big Mans Wanger or the KTM, but with limited local servicing support you will have to build in time off to get the bike serviced.

Speed triple. Awesome bike. Perhaps a bit cramped and a bit ugly, but what an engine.

FZ-1 personally my fav big naked bike. Very underrated, stonking chasis, smooth engine and still a bit rough at the edges. The only downside is the confidence it inspires will make up very anti social unless you have lots of self control. Hence why I don't have one any more.

Buy a Honda if you want practicality and reliability, buy the Tuono if you want FUN!

The KTM is fun, lots of fun. And it's a bit nippy. Drysdale's is only an hour and a half away in a van for servicing too. Good luck getting one before the end of summer though, apparently they're selling very quickly.

I had an FZ1N and thought it was a great bike...but doing high rev's were addictive, very addictive...fcuking great.

I have ridden the 990 Superduke a few times, loved it, my helmet seam to act like a face hugging Alien, bike pulled from feck all revs ...fcuking great.
I love the review on the MCN website for the 990...the 1290 gets better reviews.

But I am fed up of the maintenance that chains need when riding all year round.

I like the idea of shaft drive dirves, currently the Panzer K1300R is on my wish list for a ride...its big, naked, lots of torque, lots of horses, should be clean, I want to ride one.
