This may be a silly question but- whats would you say is the best way to sell my wife's bike, I've not had much dealings in selling bikes or cars so your words of wisdom would be helpful.

Not a silly question.

The "best" way to sell a bike depends on your circumstances.

If you have the time and are looking for the maximum return. wait 'till the spring and flog it privately.
This will involve, waiting, and a large amount of buggeration factor, you'll have to put up ads, deal with phone calls, tyre kickers and cheque clearance.

If you are lazy and or short on time, trade it in.
Ask the salesman how much he'll give you for it, as he starts to speak, cover your ears with your hands and say "LALALALALALALA" loudly. smile afterwards and concentrate on the shiny new bike you have.

If you just want to sell it outright and are not trading it in.
you'll get an opened pack of sherbert for it from a dealer.

as the adverting cost on this board is...nothing...there is noting to lose by throwing up the details now and let all the killjoys tell you that you are asking far too much and you will never sell at the time of year

but I would give it a try now and deom lest any of the barstewards get you down

you never know, it might sell sooner than you think
