Good runs for someone on a 125..
Hi all,
I've been riding about a year.. mostly commuting daily, still on CBT but looking to do my test this summer. I try to get out most weekends for some practice, this weekend I tried out South Deeside Road and went most of the way from Westhill to Alford which was fun.
I'm just looking for a few more routes that are a similar level bearing in mind that I am a bit limited by speed on a honda cg
cheers!

If you took the SDR to Alford then I'd be mighty impressed! I'm sure you meant 2 different rides though.
I depends what you want from the ride, if you want to keep you speed up and cruise along enjoying the scenery then those roads mentioned are good fun on a 125. If you want to find some twisties and work the gearbox then the coastal route from the broch to Macduff is a good giggle, also Cairn o' mount and down to Fettercairn (although it is a bit of a climb). I went over on a 125 scooter a couple years back just for a laugh and it certainly was!

Nice to see a keen biker
Post up on the novice ride outs section, it would be good to get a few of the slower riders together and I am sure an experienced rider or two will take the lead and follow at the rear to encourage the novices, and those that want a slower run.

Well done. Keep it up and remember - if you've got all day you can go all the way.

Some of us, while being old in the tooth, aren't that far off being off a 125. Best of luck with your test this summer - there's a world of fun ahead of you :)

Good luck with your test. I would have to agree with Rossi kid, those routes are good for just a nice calm run and work on confidence.
Anytime you fance a run gi me a shout always up for a cruise along to practice basics

Cheers guys,
Yeah SDR and Alford were separate. I probably had enough time to do both I was out for a good few hours. Maybe some other time!
I've done the Fettercairn road by car would be an interesting one.
Got a few ideas for routes next weekend then!
Might have to take you up on that some time stitch

Sounds like a plan for next week...a relaxed bimble heading west !
I can join in to about Alford, lead you on many a twisty road, and you city boys (and girls) can find your own way home

Sounds like another opportunity for me to fire up my satnav on my phone, head off in the wrong direction, get no input from the navigation for 20-25 minutes and eventually start getting some instructions through Not that I did that before - oh no!!!!Dave wrote:Sounds like a plan for next week...a relaxed bimble heading west !

I'd like to join in on these runs but it would involve some careful planning on my part.
The Dax fuel tank only holds 2.5 litres and tops out at 55mph! Is there a petrol station at the top of the Cairn?

Give me a shout whenever you fancy a run, two of my mates I regularly go out with are on a DR125 and a 200 Duke. And I always end up staying at the back
