Paint protection film fitting

Post by Yamahahaha »

I have just had a guy round to do the paint protection film on my bike, very impressed with his work so far and best off all he takes his time. He also does valeting & window tinting.

Paul - 07591 418653 remember tell him you saw his number on the Aberdeenbiker forum.

If you search for Paint Protection Film on eBay you will find a few sellers. It looks like a worthwhile job.

You can replace it. The film is there to get scuffed & chipped, rather than your paintwork. What I have done is sections of the bike, Nose Cone, Middle Fairing & Lower Fairing. You could if you wanted put this stuff anywhere on the bike.

I wish I had known about this sooner.
have a stone chip on the nose cone that bugs the poo out of me everytime I wash the bike.

had just thought ok, thats my bullet hole I have seen action in the field.

Might get some to prevent further scarring.

I used precut film from these guys for my SV650 when I had it.

http://www.thetankslapper.biz/

They have 2 different kinds, removable pieces(for the tank) and permanent thicker 3M plastic for the front and sides. the permanent stuff was like new even after 3 years, the tank protection pieces were going at the edges, but the paintwork on the bike was like new. Easy instructions to follow even I did it okay. Going to get some more for the gixxer I think.

I seem to remember even though it is american, they delivered within the week. Oh yeah......it is cheap as well :biggrin2

I have spoken with Paul about prices

Pre-cut kits = £30 to £50 depends on time spent
Film requiring tracing & fitting = £50
Window tinting = £100 to £200 this would include the window tint film of your choice.

You would need to supply the film or kit for Motorbikes.

Hi Yamahahaha

Was going to make contact with this Paul guy myself - new Gay Blade coming in 10 days and needs paint protection. I assume you supplied him with the protective film kit did you? If so, which make did you get - I'm told the Ventureshield stuff is very good. Also, what did he charge you for the fitting? Cheers. Goon

Due to the age of my bike I had to buy the stuff off the roll and make templates. I was down at the Scottish Motorcycle Show on Saturday and picked up a leaflet - http://www.autoshield-protection.co.uk/

I would order the precut kit as it would be easier to fit. They have started doing Matt & Gloss look finish.

He will charge between £30 to £50 depending on time spent fitting the kit, but its well worth it.
