Winter Hibernation

It's getting near that time of year again :(
I will soon be tucking away the Aprilia for the winter after a thorough clean and lube (I can't believe it's not butter!) and commuting on my wee Honda.
In the past I have only had one bike at a time so I would ride it all year in almost all weathers :freebird
Any advice for keeping the Aprilia sweet while in the shed for winter?
I have purchased an oxford optimiser but never used it before. I guess it should be hooked up to the battery whilst still on the bike :confused Maybe I should read the instructions? :deal
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Invest in some FS-365 spray and keep using the bike as much as you can.

I've seen bikes deteriorate more through being laid up through winter than when being still used on a regular basis. As long as you hose the bike down and give it regular coatings of anti-corrision spray I find that running the bike helps heat up the bike and dry out any moisture that would otherwise cause problems if left for months over winter.
