Tyres
How about a tyre's section?? Well after a few years of using Michellin Power 2cts, I have decided to move to Bridgestone's BT-023. The reason is tyre wear, the 'Danger' Powers are great tyres but the mileage is rubbish. I check a few websites and they are raving about the BT-023. Once I get my new boots on I will post up a review.

Re: Tyres
I've had Pilot Road 2's on my Sprint for the past 8 months and so far I've done 8000 miles, very surprised by the mileage, thinking of changing them soon as they are getting fairly squared off with winter commuting but still plenty left on them.

Re: Tyres
I've been a Pilot Road2 fan for a few years now but they've been replaced with PR3's which I haven't tried yet. I heard they made the new one softer but that may not be correct. I hope not as I only get 4.5k out of the rears as it is.
Before that I used to use Avon STs and IIRC Bridgestone BT18 and 20 and 21's. The PR2 was leaps and bounds better than all those especially in colder months and in the wet.
Would love to see a good review comparing the Angels, BT23's, PR2's and the new PR3.

Re: Tyres
I've just switched out the OEM tyres off the Street Triple (BT016's I think, although there's suggestion on other forums that they are actually a cheap version of the BT016's) to spanking new PR3s. Initial feedback from the 100+ miles I've done is how much more confident I feel with them. Going over damp white lines doesn't appear to result in the squirming about that I was getting in the old tyres, but I haven't ridden them in the full wet yet. Just looking at the tyre tread gives me more confidence for when I do anyway. Will obviously be a while before I get a view on any squaring off etc.abjectblitz wrote:I've been a Pilot Road2 fan for a few years now but they've been replaced with PR3's which I haven't tried yet. Re: Tyres
The BT016 is a race spec road tyre...i.e. loads of grip when hot, but not so good in cold conditions.
Excellent tyres for summer roads, but caution is needed at this time of year.
The PR3 is more like an all round tyre and much more usable on the road, but you shouldn't compare the o16 to the PR3 as they are designed to do different things. The equivalent Bridgestone tyre to the PR3 will be the BT023.
Chart below is a few years old, but will give you the idea.

Re: Tyres
Only reason I compare them is because the bike comes fitted with BT016s as stock, when it is clearly a street fighter / road bike. Sure some people take them on the track and have some fun there, but they're not a track bike by design.Zathos wrote:The BT016 is a race spec road tyre...i.e. loads of grip when hot, but not so good in cold conditions.

Re: Tyres
My Monster had BT-016's fitted as standard. I didn't have any issues with them in the wet or riding over Glenshee back from Glasgow in wet and wintery weather. They did square off however after 2500 miles and started to feel a bit unpredictable but that is probably more to do with my riding than anything.Yarek wrote:Only reason I compare them is because the bike comes fitted with BT016s as stock, when it is clearly a street fighter / road bike. Re: Tyres
CB1000R came with BT-015 fitted - rear lasted 1000 miles, front 2500. BT-023's were a massive improvement in both mileage and handling (for me) over OE supply.
