Biker Friendly Places to Stay

Post by Lynners »

I'm looking up maps and working out a few weekend/week biking holidays around Scotland, preferably away from city's.

It would be useful to name places you have stayed in in the past and how you would rate them.

I'll start the ball rolling with these:-

Gairloch Highland Lodge - £55-£60 double room, excellent location, biker friendly, honesty bar, beautiful views, great brekkie, locals bar a minutes walk.

BettyHill Hotel - £50-60 a double, more like the bates motel, very scary locals...carry on to Melvich rather than stay here!!

Craigvrack Hotel Pitlochry - £60 a double, excellent lovely small hotel, cracking brekkie and great location.

Swallow Hotel Inverary - £60 a double, fantastic brekkies, nice location, lots of bars round about. Pool table downstairs, internet incase you miss the forum.

all bike friendly accomadation, a lot of them bikers themselves

Bracarina House, at Invermoiston was very good, new building, clean, nice friendly owners, good breakfast, a cover for the bike and dried off our wet clothing for us.They are both bikers as well.

Cheers for the links, I'm looking forward to heading to Applecross sometime, would rather stay in Hotels rather than B&B's. Have you stayed in any of them? After the Bettyhill Hotel I'd feel safer going with recommendations, it will give us somewhere to aim for too.

There's a hotel/pub place in Applecross (think its the only one, just in front of the beach/harbour)....it was very nice and cosey, just head up the stairs after getting pie eyed in the downstairs pub, really friendly people too....can't recommend it enough, although the road getting there is scarey :eek

Graham Arms Hotel in Longtown (Near Gretna) Good secure parking for the 'bike & it's in a great location with the Lake District, Dumfries & Galloway or the North Yorkshire Moors within distance for a days blast.

Whilst working up in Nigg recently I was staying in a place in Tain. Derek and Heather Wynne own this place and the accomodation is excellent. Only 9 rooms in the place but your well looked after. Defo gonna head up that way when the bike comes out of the garage in the coming months.

Grand Hotel
15, Gold STD, Northampton, Northamptonshire NN1 1RA
Tel: 01604 636508

They have a big lock-up garage just behind the hotel.

Not the cheapest place, but central location and a five min run to the circuit. Used to use the place when we went to the F1 GP and there were some very nice toys parked in the lock-up that weekend :cool

Don't know much about Mull but if you're round about Kyle of Lochalsh and looking for a place to stay, try The Pipers Lodge. Very well kept and the owners are very accomodating.
